Character Counter
Count characters with and without spaces, live.
About this tool
Count the exact number of characters in your text as you type, both including and excluding spaces. Character limits are what most platforms actually enforce — X/Twitter posts, SMS messages, meta titles and descriptions, database fields and form inputs — so the limit indicators show at a glance whether your text will fit or be truncated.

Frequently asked questions
Do spaces count as characters?
Usually yes — most platforms count spaces. Both totals are shown so you can use whichever the platform you are writing for enforces.
How many characters is a tweet or X post?
The standard limit is 280 characters. The limit chip turns red once your text goes over.
How many characters should a meta description be?
Around 155 characters. Google truncates longer descriptions in search results, so staying under keeps your snippet intact.
